THD Series take-up housings

THD Series take-up housings are non-split housings,they consist of a housing body and two covers,the covers are bolted to the body with six or eight bolts,THD housings and SBD housings are supplied with different covers depending on the shaft bearing combition.

 

THD Housings have a special take-up design to maintain tension on a conveyor belt, this design is narrow and can be used where space is limited,and THD take-up housing bodies are made of spheroidal graphite cast iron,,covers are made of grey cast iron. THD take-up housings are painted blue using a solvent based alkyd and acryl paint.the paint protects the housing,the paint is not affected by most lubricating oils,cutting fluids or alkalescent washing chemicals,THD housing can be repainted with most water or solvent based 1 or 2 component paints.unpainted surfaces are protected by a solventless rust inhibitor.the dimension of THD housings are not standarized either nationally or internationally.THD take-up housings are non-split housings designed to accommodate heavy loads acting in different directions,these types of loads are typically encountered in conveyors,roller beds and crushers,highly reliable bearing arrangement can be designed using THD housing together with CARB toroidal roller bearings, shaft diameter range 50-400mm, plain shaft with bearing on an adapter sleeve,THD take-up are made of cast steel, grey iron,the labyrinth rings are locked on the shaft with adapter rings,the labyrinth rings are locked in different ways depending on the housing type:

 

- fixed with an adapter ring

- clamped between the bearing and a shaft shoulder

- clamped between the bearing or lock nut and another component on the shaft.

 

THD take-up housings have ducts to supply grease directly to the seals.using sealed bearings in housings with standard seals is good solution for highly contaminated environments, the sealed bearing together with the Housing seal and grease provide three layers of protection. THD take-up housings can,in most cases,be used together with self-aligning sealed spherical roller bearings,the heavy-duty seals can protects the sealed spherical roller bearings  againest contaminants during mounting.THD housing must be mounted properly using the appropriate tools and state of the art mechanical mounting methods.
